Recorded and mixed in late 2013 and early 2014, Rarities Vol 1 is a collection of collaborative material produced by San Francisco's Salvatore Catanzaro (Izznyce) and Chicago's Armando Perez (The Single Helix). Drawing from their respective city influences, they dubbed the project "Oso Gigante."

Sal and I get into his Nika Sound Studio annually and this was a special year! I brought my first recordings of ESSO out to him to help mix. Coupled with his new beat ideas from my last visit to SF, we collaborated while watching vintage movies about street parties in the Bronx and the social influence of music from the late seventies. I also had a deep inspiration to write and perform written rhyme verse in Spanish after performing with ¡ESSO! at or first appearance at Villapalooza. At that show I wrapped in Spanish to a incredibly receptive audience. In terms of hip hop performance, language and dynamics, I was reborn that day.
