A culmination of songs that were written over the years that finally found an outlet when I met Erica. I was working at the Salme Hariju Fine Arts center at Northeastern University, and I had several loose demos of these songs recorded, but none of them were standing out to me. I knew I wanted to collaborate with a gifted vocalist, but I wasn't sure what type of voice might fit this project. Enter Erica at the talent show performing songs on her ukelele. I knew we would collaborate after I saw her performance, but it wouldn't happen until a year and a half later.

I tend to write lovelorn songs with hopeless romantic lyrics. Some of it inspired by what I imagine are perfect situations between lovers. I think it is precious to have romantic closeness. To feel vulnerable and safe at the same time is worth creation. This album was made for those who have words to say, but don't know how to say them.

This record was recorded in parts to a click. I had only an acoustic guitar and lyrics for the initial demo sessions. We found a good key for Erica and layed a demo down around a set tempo. I would then go back and flesh the song out. This process allowed me to experiment with the supporting instrumentation and write for each instrument. The record is primarily live. I played all live instruments: drums set, percussion, guitars, bass, keyboards, and sang light backups. It is a high point in recording and performing for me. Especially since I had been imagining this record since 2009-2010.
