about

I experienced a creative jolt after returning from the Bay in 2001, I was pumping out so many ideas that I consolidated and pieced together my first solo record of beats and rhymes. I was really interested in making an album of instrumentals for emcees to freestyle over. This was just before Freeform Sessions' "Blue Album" happened. This was my time for discovering what I could do with my new gear: Dr. Beats 202, BOSS digital 4-track recorder, a guitar and a bass.

This album, entitled Ntwari, named after a documentary story of a Nigerian man's son whom would not give up on his dreams. The symbolism meant a great deal to me. The was becoming my version of DJ Krush's album "Zen."

I gave this album out to my closest friends and I got a great response. I just didn't know what to do next... I didn't know how to release an album, promote, reach out to media outlets, and I was much too shy to send it to record labels. I didn't think anyone other than me and my friends could understand. My only ambition was to make more music and get better at it. With this as a starting point, I started to work with and record the FS crew.

It was a magical time for me.

The song "Peace" is the first song I ever collaborated on with Izznyce. It was also the first digital rhyme recording I did.

This was also the album disc I gave to Orel, who then chose "Third World Struggle" to create" Conceptualize" for the Blue Album.
